College Recruiting Time Line

High School Freshman Year
  • Meet with H.S Guidance Counselor - They will help you plan for the core course requirements.
  • Get involved in organizations outside of sports.
  • Study….Study….Study….High GPA and SAT/ACT scores = More Funding.
  • Speak with your club / High School coach.
  • Have someone provide you with an honest playing ability evaluation.
  • Start building a target list of school (10-15 for now).
  • Complete College Recruiting Questionnaires to get name in database.
  • Start building video footage and photos.
  • Start getting exposed to College coaches (ODP, Camps, Showcase).
High School Sophomore Year
  • Meet with H.S Guidance Counselor to review your progress with core course list.
  • Start thinking about possible colleges degrees you might want to major in. 
  • Study….Study….Study….Stay focused on your school work.
  • Build your resume by staying involved in organizations, charities, clubs.
  • Seek new evaluation of your playing strengths and weaknesses.
  • Add to your target list of possible schools…add 10-15 additional school.
  • Start sending intro letters to your target list of schools.
  • Continue to accumulate video footage, monitor social media sites.
  • Seek ways to get in front of coaches (ODP, Showcase events, Camps).
High School Junior Year
  • Continue building on what you have already started your sophomore year.
  • Study for ACT/SAT and plan to take Test.
  • Register for NCAA Eligibility Center if you have not done so by now.
  • Take honor or college credit type courses.
  • Add an additional 10-15 colleges to your college list.
  • Know the important NCAA recruiting dates.
  • Begin to access schools on your target list via internet searches.
  • Keep target list of coaches informed via email, of your season.
  • Respond to emails received from coaches.
  • Begin taking unofficial visits. 
High School Senior Year
  • Continue building on what you have already started your Junior year.
  • Begin to focus on Financial Aid options.
  • Begin to narrow down you target list of schools.
  • Plan to retake SAT / ACT….shoot for even higher scores.
  • Submit college applications to schools on your short list.
  • Submit your FAFSA after January 1st.
  • Have guidance counselor submit transcript to school at end of H.S year.
  • Complete your NCAA Eligibility Center questionnaires.
  • Invite coaches to watch you play (H.S or Club).
  • Schedule unofficial visits or Official visit if committed to school.Make phone calls to college coaches on your target list.
  • Prepare for unofficial visits, phone calls from coaches.
  • Keep in contact with colleges coaches throughout your Senior year.
  • Attend showcase events / ID Camps to schools of interest.
  • Send video footage to college coaches.
