Camp Level Descriptions:
Level I: Developing – This level provides a fun introduction to the basics of goalkeeping by focusing on the introduction and development of proper technique. Developing goalkeepers will focus primarily on catching, general handling, basic diving, simple distribution, and other fundamental aspects of the position.
Level II: Advanced – Advanced goalkeepers will continue to develop all proper technique with the introduction of tactical scenarios common during match play. This level will emphasize positioning with regard to cutting angles, the technique of shot stopping, confidence when dealing with crosses, and the importance of distribution and communication.
The Goalkeeper Training Camp will be a part of Weddington Soccer Camp. All players registering for the Goalkeeper Training Camp will participate in Weddington Soccer Camp as well. Weddington Soccer Camp takes place from 8:30am - 12pm each day. Players registering for the GK portion will be placed in groups for the week of camp and will train 1 hour each day with GK Trainers on specific areas. They will also receive the benefits of Weddington Soccer Camp to continue to progress as players. GKs will be get time throughout the week at camp to play in goal during 6v6, 8v8 and 11v11 matches.
*Please note that WCWAA goalkeeper trainers reserve the right to move a player from one level to another in order to better benefit the development of the player.
